Two brothers named Epimetheus and Prometheus lived in Ancient Greece. They had upset the gods by giving the gift of fire to humans and now the gods wanted to punish them

Pandora has given a box by Zeus to give it to Epimethus, Prometheus's brother. That box shouldn't be opened, but Pandora is very curious with that box and finally Pandora open that box, from inside that box, appear a lot of diseases, and sadness. This story is very good and give a moral value, this story tells us to keep the order or command from other people.
Pandora is a woman created from land for to give punishment to the Epimetheus, than Pandora and Epimetheus was marry. In the legend of Pandora's box a good story because this story shows how curiosity about the things that really should not be known. She is angry with Echo fairy, then Hera leaves Echo fairy and she curses that Echo fairy can not speak unless the last word that is heard. A curse from Hera is to be real to Echo’s fairy fate. Echo fairy feels sad what happens with her self. One day, there are Narcissus (handsome boy) who is walking self in the wood. Narcissus is a boy who has arrogant character. Echo fairy sees him. Because his handsome makes Echo fairy falling love to Narcissus. But her loved is refused by Narcissus. Narcissus walks long time that makes Narcissus feels thirsty. He wants to drink water in the pool, suddenly Narcissus sees his image who is handsome in the water. He views his images. Narcissus is falling in love with his image. Because his loved with his image that makes he doesn’t want to leave. He accompanies his image until die. Therefore white flower is used to death.
Moral Message From the story, we can take the moral message. We are as human, we may not to be arrogant with other people althouht we have many excess in our self. Because the thing can make asymmetrical among our self with other. Suggested I think the performent of two groups is good enough. They can act the story goodly, but it would be very good if they increased the property.
Titan Prometheus's passive-aggression towards the king of the gods, Zeus. Having gotten away with or having paid the price for one misdeed, Prometheus kept going back for more. Zeus was very creative in the way he meted out punishments. The king of the gods wasn't crazy about us and didn't want us to have, among other things, fire. Prometheus, on the other hand, wanted good things for us, so stealthily, he brought us the gift of fire. In return, Zeus presented man with a "gift," Pandora, the first woman. While Prometheus may have crafted man, woman was a different sort of creature. She came from the forge of Hephaestus, beautiful as a goddess and beguiling, thanks to traits bestowed by Athena and Zeus. Zeus presented her as a bride to Prometheus' brother Epimetheus.Prometheus had the gift of thinking ahead, but Epimetheus was only capable of afterthought, so Prometheus, expecting retribution for his audacity, had warned his brother against accepting gifts from Zeus. Zeus gave the gods-crafted Pandora as bride to Epimetheus, along with a box with a warning label telling the couple never to open it. Epimetheus was dazzled by his bride, Pandora. he forgot the advice of his prescient brother. he thought they were supposed to hold the box in safe-keeping for Zeus against his return Epimetheus insisted that his wife obey the letter of the label. Unfortunately, one day Pandora's husband left her side for a few hours. Pandora was gifted with curiosity as much as the other attributes given her by the gods. Maybe if she just took a quick peak. Looking around to make sure no one was watching, she opened the box Zeus had given them just a crack. The gods granted the woman with many gifts including beauty, charm, cunning, wit, eloquence, deceit, skill, and curiosity. Then Zeus gave her a box and told her she was never to open it. Zeus then offered Pandora as a wife to Prometheus. The Titan wanted her, but he refused because he knew it must be a trick of the gods. Zeus became angry and punished Prometheus. The Titan was chained to a rock. There, a vulture came daily to feed on his flesh. Prometheus's brother, Epimetheus, accepted Pandora as his wife, and the couple settled down for a happy life. But Pandora always wondered what was in the box Zeus gave her. Finally she couldn't hold her curiosity down anymore. The Face in the Pool (the story of Echo and Narcissus)
Zeus had been going down to earth to hang out with the nymphs. Every time Hera (Zeus' wife) came down to see him, Echo- one of the nymphs- distracted her so she wouldn't see Zeus. Once Hera found out that Echo had been tricking her she cursed her, so that she would never say the first words, only the last.
Narcissus was a man who was very vain. One day he was hunting in the forest. Echo saw him and followed him because he was so beautiful. Narcissus heard her and said "Who are you? Come to me!" Echo replied "Come to me!" so Narcissus said "Stop hiding, let us meet!" Echo replied "Let us meet!" When Echo went to see Narcissus she embraced him. "Leave me alone!" he said. "I'd rather die than love you!". "Love you' was all Echo could say back. Echo goes to live in a cave.
Later Narcissus finds a pool, and he sees his own reflection in it and falls in love. He dies while sitting there. "Goodbye, my love!" are his last words. Echo hears from the cave. "Goodbye, my love" she says back.

The story of Pandora and her box comes from Ancient Greece and is very old. Because of this, there are several versions of the myth.
In Greek mythology, Pandora (meaning ‘all-giving’) was the first woman on earth. Before humans there were the immortals (the Gods and Titans). The brothers, Prometheus and Epimetheus were Titans (Giant people) who had fought on the Gods’ side in a war. Some say they were cousins of Zeus, king of the gods; he asked Prometheus to create man out of clay and water (in many versions Hephaestus helps in this). Epimetheus had to create the animals and give them their gifts of courage, swiftness etc. He gave out all the gifts and had none left for Man. So Prometheus decides to make man stand upright, like the gods, and give them fire (which Zeus did not want them to have – some say he had removed it as a punishment). So Prometheus stole fire – some say from Zeus’ lightning, others from the sun and yet others from Hephaestus’ forge.
Most agree that Zeus asked Hephaestus to make Pandora (the first woman) also out of earth and water, and he intended her to be a punishment. Each god and goddess gave Pandora a gift (talent), of beauty, charm, music etc but also others, like curiosity and persuasion – gifts that could be used for good or ill.
Then Pandora was given a container – in the original Greek stories it was a jar and did not become a box until the Sixteenth century AD. A scholar called Erasmus, who lived in Rotterdam in Holland, translated a story of Pandora from Hesiod’s work. Hesiod was a Greek poet who lived about 700BC. Erasmus was translating the Greek into Latin (which scholars did all their writing in, in those days) and translated the Greek word ‘pithos’ meaning jar into the Latin word ‘pyxis’ meaning box. And a box it has stayed to this day

Zeuz went back to the earth. Then, he was attemted by forest nymph. Next, they played in some place. At that time, Hera was jealouse because saw Zeus and forest nymph. Hera looked for Zeus in the forest. When Hera closed Zeus’s place, one of nymph passed in Hera’s road. That nymhph name is Echo.echo invited Hera to talk. They talked kindly, so that Zeus escaped with the nymph. Hera was conclous that Echo had removed her attention. Hera was angry and cursed Echo, that Echo just could say the last word in which said by another persons. One day, there was a teenager who hunted a deer in the forest. That boy has light brown hair and handsome. Everybody who saw him, exactly, will fall in love with him. The name of the boy is Narcisus. Calmly, Echo wanted to hug Narcisus from the bihind side. Narcisus knew and avoided. He asked,”who are you? I’d rather die than let you love me”. Then, Echo said “love me, love me”. Narcisus ran to go away from Echo.echo was really sad and walked alone in a gave. One day, Narcisus walked and found a pond in which the water was very clear. He saw that pond and saw someone who has beautiful fase. Narcisus loved him. Finally, he knew that someone in the surface of pond’s water was himself. He felt very sad. At the end, he died beside that pond.
Narcissus and Echo the second drama is beautiful perform, but in this story we can't find the ending. in the first, zeus is hera's husband. One day, Zeus disappeared in the forest. hera try asking echo but echo would not say where zeus. When it comes daffodil, she reflects on a pond, but the shadow he saw was a woman who was not his. and besides that, every word uttered by eco daffodil imitated. finally, narcissus died and his body was found in the woods and became flowers it called narcissus flower.

Narcissus Flower is an embodiment of a hunter man who fell in love with his own reflection in the pool, named Narcissus. Because of his admiration to his own beautiful face in the pool, Narcissus stayed in the edge of the pool until he died.
Echo Sound comes from a woman, named Echo, who had curse from Hera (Zeus’ wife) because she said a lie about Zeus. When Hera knew the truth, Hera cursed Echo to only be able to repeat what someone else said. Echo was so sad and hide behind the mountain.

In addition to sentencing Prometheus to eternity on a mountain, Zeus gave Prometheus's' brother Epimetheus two gifts. One of them was a jar filled with the spites that was never to be opened and also a woman. The significance of the woman was something that signified a double ended sword which meant can cause happiness and bliss or pain and sorrow. The woman was named Pandora and she was sent by Zeus to marry Epimetheus.
I think this drama is very good,because from this drama we get a moral value and an entertainment.

Narcissius is a handsome young teenager, indeed many who fell in love with her but no one returned his love by Narcissus. Similarly Echo, a nymph beautiful. Beautiful fairy fell in love at first sight when I saw Narcissius a walk in the woods. It's just that Echo could not speak except to repeat the last words that he heard. Embarrassed she only dared approach Narcissius admire from afar or just from behind a bush. As if obsessed Narcissius unwittingly handsome young man he followed wherever it goes.

At one time the only mortals on the earth were men. Prometheus had made them, Athene had breathed life into them. The chief god Zeus did not like them.
One day Prometheus was trying to solve a quarrel that was raging between the gods and the men. At a festival the men were going to sacrifice a bull for the first time. They asked him which parts of the bull should be offered to the gods and which should be eaten by men. Prometheus decided to play a trick on Zeus. He killed the bull, skinned it and butchered it. He split it into two portions, in one he put the best, lean meat. In the second he put bones followed by a thick layer of fat. Prometheus offered both to Zeus to take his choice. Zeus looked at both portions, one looked good but was rather on the small side, the other was much larger and covered in a layer of fat which Zeus felt must cover the best, tastiest portion of meat. He chose that one. When Zeus realised that he had been tricked he was furious. He took fire away from man so that they could never cook their meat or feel warm again.
Prometheus reacted immediately flying to the Isle of Lemnos where he knew the smith Hephaestus had fire. He carried a burning torch back to man. Zeus was enraged. He swore vengeance and started making an evil plan.
Zeus, set Hephaestos the task of creating a clay woman with a human voice. Hephaestos worked and worked and created a masterpiece. Athene, goddess of wisdom and Zeus' daughter liked the clay figure and she breathed life into it. She taught the woman how to weave and clothed her. Aphrodite the goddess of love made her beautiful. The god Hermes taught her to charm and deceive.

Gradually over a while she began to wonder more and more what was in the box. She could not understand why someone would send her a box if she could not see what was in it. It got very important to find out what was hidden there.
Finally she could stand it no longer. One day when everyone was out she crept up to the box, took the huge key, fitted it carefully into the lock and turned it. She lifted the lid to peep in but before she realised it the room was filled with terrible things: disease, despair, malice, greed, old age, death, hatred, violence, cruelty and war. She slammed the lid down and turned the key again...keeping only the spirit of hope inside.

The myth of Pandora's box
ReplyDeleteTwo brothers named Epimetheus and Prometheus lived in Ancient Greece. They had upset the gods by giving the gift of fire to humans and now the gods wanted to punish them
All that remained in the box was Hope. It fluttered from the box like a beautiful dragonfly, touching the wounds created by the evil creatures, and healing them. Even though Pandora had released pain and suffering upon the world, she had also allowed Hope to follow them.
In modern discourse, the phrase “Pandora’s box” is used to describe a source of unanticipated yet far-reaching troubles or evils. The myth this phrase originated from has undertaken many changes over the years and has been subject to numerous interpretations.
The myth never intended to imply that Pandora acted out of malice in opening the jar as she quickly closed the jar immediately after opening it. Rather her curiosity is said to have been the cause of her actions.
Here is a simpler way of understanding it. Curiosity killed the cat. It's alright to have a healthy curiosity, but there could be consequences.

Echo fairy feels sad what happens with her self. One day, there are Narcissus (handsome boy) who is walking self in the wood. Narcissus is a boy who has arrogant character. Echo fairy sees him. Because his handsome makes Echo fairy falling love to Narcissus. But her loved is refused by Narcissus. Narcissus walks long time that makes Narcissus feels thirsty. He wants to drink water in the pool, suddenly Narcissus sees his image who is handsome in the water. He views his images. Narcissus is falling in love with his image. Because his loved with his image that makes he doesn’t want to leave. He accompanies his image until die. Therefore white flower is used to death.
Moral Message
From the story, we can take the moral message. We are as human, we may not to be arrogant with other people althouht we have many excess in our self. Because the thing can make asymmetrical among our self with other.

She came from the forge of Hephaestus, beautiful as a goddess and beguiling, thanks to traits bestowed by Athena and Zeus. But the gods did not allow man to have fire. They knew that man would misuse it and destroy with it. Prometheus was sure that the good man did with fire would outweigh the bad, so he stole fire from the gods and gave it to man. Zeus decided to punish Prometheus with trickery. He called Aphrodite to pose while Hephaestus made a clay figure of a woman. Then he brought the statue to life. The gods granted the woman with many gifts including beauty, charm, cunning, wit, eloquence, deceit, skill, and curiosity. Then Zeus gave her a box and told her she was never to open it. Zeus then offered Pandora as a wife to Prometheus.

Once Hera found out that Echo had been tricking her she cursed her, so that she would never say the first words, only the last.
Narcissus was a man who was very vain. One day he was hunting in the forest. Echo saw him and followed him because he was so beautiful. Narcissus heard her and said "Who are you? Come to me!" Echo replied "Come to me!" so Narcissus said "Stop hiding, let us meet!" Echo replied "Let us meet!" When Echo went to see Narcissus she embraced him. "Leave me alone!" he said. "I'd rather die than love you!". "Love you' was all Echo could say back. Echo goes to live in a cave.
Later Narcissus finds a pool, and he sees his own reflection in it and falls in love. He dies while sitting there. "Goodbye, my love!" are his last words. Echo hears from the cave. "Goodbye, my love" she says back.
And then Narcissus turns into a beautiful flower.

ReplyDeleteThe story of Pandora and her box comes from Ancient Greece and is very old. Because of this, there are several versions of the myth.
In Greek mythology, Pandora (meaning ‘all-giving’) was the first woman on earth. Before humans there were the immortals (the Gods and Titans). The brothers, Prometheus and Epimetheus were Titans (Giant people) who had fought on the Gods’ side in a war. Some say they were cousins of Zeus, king of the gods; he asked Prometheus to create man out of clay and water (in many versions Hephaestus helps in this). Epimetheus had to create the animals and give them their gifts of courage, swiftness etc. He gave out all the gifts and had none left for Man. So Prometheus decides to make man stand upright, like the gods, and give them fire (which Zeus did not want them to have – some say he had removed it as a punishment). So Prometheus stole fire – some say from Zeus’ lightning, others from the sun and yet others from Hephaestus’ forge.
Most agree that Zeus asked Hephaestus to make Pandora (the first woman) also out of earth and water, and he intended her to be a punishment. Each god and goddess gave Pandora a gift (talent), of beauty, charm, music etc but also others, like curiosity and persuasion – gifts that could be used for good or ill.
Then Pandora was given a container – in the original Greek stories it was a jar and did not become a box until the Sixteenth century AD. A scholar called Erasmus, who lived in Rotterdam in Holland, translated a story of Pandora from Hesiod’s work. Hesiod was a Greek poet who lived about 700BC. Erasmus was translating the Greek into Latin (which scholars did all their writing in, in those days) and translated the Greek word ‘pithos’ meaning jar into the Latin word ‘pyxis’ meaning box. And a box it has stayed to this day

Zeuz went back to the earth. Then, he was attemted by forest nymph. Next, they played in some place. At that time, Hera was jealouse because saw Zeus and forest nymph. Hera looked for Zeus in the forest. When Hera closed Zeus’s place, one of nymph passed in Hera’s road. That nymhph name is Echo.echo invited Hera to talk. They talked kindly, so that Zeus escaped with the nymph. Hera was conclous that Echo had removed her attention. Hera was angry and cursed Echo, that Echo just could say the last word in which said by another persons.
ReplyDeleteOne day, there was a teenager who hunted a deer in the forest. That boy has light brown hair and handsome. Everybody who saw him, exactly, will fall in love with him. The name of the boy is Narcisus. Calmly, Echo wanted to hug Narcisus from the bihind side. Narcisus knew and avoided. He asked,”who are you? I’d rather die than let you love me”. Then, Echo said “love me, love me”. Narcisus ran to go away from Echo.echo was really sad and walked alone in a gave.
One day, Narcisus walked and found a pond in which the water was very clear. He saw that pond and saw someone who has beautiful fase. Narcisus loved him. Finally, he knew that someone in the surface of pond’s water was himself. He felt very sad. At the end, he died beside that pond.

Narcissus and Echo the second drama is beautiful perform, but in this story we can't find the ending. in the first, zeus is hera's husband. One day, Zeus disappeared in the forest. hera try asking echo but echo would not say where zeus. When it comes daffodil, she reflects on a pond, but the shadow he saw was a woman who was not his. and besides that, every word uttered by eco daffodil imitated. finally, narcissus died and his body was found in the woods and became flowers it called narcissus flower.
